Dixie Chicks...Dispatch Days

I bet you guys thought this was about the real "Dixie Chicks" sorry... but its about my 2 buddies and me. Well as you know I'm from West Va. But what you don't know is that my 2 buddies are from other southern states. One is from Mississippi and the other one is from Georgia.  I met them about 7 years ago when I first started working at the Columbus Dispatch. And we just hit it right off. You guys know how southern people are. We really don't know any strangers. So some of the guys that we worked with started calling us "Dixie Chicks". Jane (Georgia), when I first met her she reminded me of my Aunt Nola. Then Rhonda started working at the Dispatch she moved down to the printing plant from This Week newspapers, and her and I started working on the classifieds for This Week papers. And then the next thing you knew we was all together hitting it off. I made some good friends working at the Dispatch. We no longer work together cause our jobs got out source to India. Of all places, and now we work at different places but we stay in touch. I work for an Ad Agency and Jane is retired (lucky lady) and Rhonda is in school in the medial field. She is almost done with it. December baby! And she just got engage. Man our lives have really change since the Dispatch days, but thats ok. Cause of the Dispatch I met some really great people.
I was also lucky enough to have met Merry. Now this is Merry with an "E" not an "A". We worked together here at the Agency also. When we first meet and she told me her name was Merry Yee with a "E". Well I didn't catch all of that. So when I saw her I would always so Hey. So after my training at the Dispatch I was put on 2nd shift and I got to set beside Merry at night. There was 4 of us in the cube. So one night we was working and someone finally said her name in front of me and I looked at her and said Oh...Your name is Mary.  She looked at me and said yes with a "E", then she said I knew you didn't know my name. I told her that you said your name so fast that all I got was "E", and I knew that wasn't her name. We still laugh about it to this day. And do you guys know what...? We still set beside each other.
Well guys... thats all I got to say for now. Hope you enjoy. There will be more stories coming from my days at the Dispatch.
And yes Chris... I got some stories for you about JR coming.

This is new...

Well I'm trying to keep up with everything.  So this is new to me. What can i say... really nothing. I'm a new grandmother. I have a lovely new granddaughter. Well she isn't that new anymore. But still new to me. I'm original from West Va. Even thou I've lived up here in Ohio for 44 years, I still long for home. My father was transferred up here to Ohio back in '65.
Both of my parents are gone now and they are buried back home. And I try to go back as much as I can. My mother always wanted to go back home, so she and I would go back all the time. Now its me and my daughter. You know its funny cause when my mother and I would go back I would drive all the time. Now my daughter drives all the time. I just wounder when she has children she will do the same thing...? I hope so.
I love going back and seeing everyone, and the people back home are great. When I cross over the Ohio River into West Va. you can feel the difference. I know you probably think its all in my head, but its not. Don't get me wrong, I like Ohio, but I really miss West Va.
My family is here and this is where I'll stay. Just like my parents did. Even after my dad retired he still didn't want to move back home. It wasn't that he didn't want to it was because of us kids and grandkids. There are 3 of us left up here in Ohio. My 2 brothers and me. I also have 2 children and one beautiful granddaughter.
My husband and I have 2 great children, and a great daughter-in-law. And back in January we got another addition added to our family.
But my husband has a big family here. There were 7 children in his family and they are from here. Well, except 1, she was born in Co. His parents meet when his dad was in the service. And they moved back to Ohio to help his dad with the farm.
Even when people ask me where I'm from...I tell them West Va. Cause you can hear it in my voice and I'm also proud to be from there. Its funny, both of my children has my slang. And they are full grown and they was born and raise up here in Ohio.
I know I'll never move back to West Va., cause this is where my family is. And thats ok. Cause you see I"ll always be a hillbilly at heart living in Ohio.
Man, for someone that really didn't have much to say. I'm typing a lot...sorry.
Well, I think that is it for right now. I know I've hit and skip on some of this but thats ok cause like I said I'm new at this. Plus I type like I talk. LOL. Hope you guys enjoy. And I'll be back.
